Early Congrats to Aaron
June 10th, 2008
Aaron doesn’t graduate until Thursday but we all celebrated his upcoming acheivement yesterday! I remember when I met him he was such an intelligent handsome little boy who always had something clever to say. He has grown into an amazing athlete in both Lacrosse and Football. In fact his Lacrosse team won, they are the San Diego CIF champions . Aaron won attack man of the year and was 1st team all CIF and nominated as an all american! Way to go Aaron!! Maren and Kaili enjoy playing with Uncle Aaron he is lots of fun. We had a wonderful feast prepared by grandma Jo and got to meet a close family Aaron has been “adopted” by.
Never a dull moment with the Hemeon’s. Unfortunately I had planned to take a group picture of us all but Aaron came in with an injury– football in the eye compliments of Marc. For some reason Marc, though unintentionally, harms Aaron. Those brothers play rough but have so much fun together. Thanks grandma Jo.

A little piece of paradise…

is what I like to call where my sister and brother in law live. Jason and Summer have it made in Laguna Beach they have a private beach and the most amazing views of the ocean! The perfect place to spend an afternoon with the Hemeon’s. We played bocce ball on the sand and then went up to Jason and Summer’s for a BBQ and a little surprise birthday cake for Randy. The girls enjoyed making a playground slide out of the stairs and running away from Otis (the dog). Maren talks non stop about getting a dog of our own but whenever we are around any dogs she asks the owners a hundred questions about them being nice and not biting or jumping etc. Finally, every once and a while she will pet them but it is such a process for her. With Otis she would just make sure to stay out on the patio or front deck with the screen between her and the dog. She would quickly move in and out but wanted one of the adults to watch Otis. We had a relaxing and wonderful time. As for our little Maren, I am not so sure she is ever relaxed around dogs.

Grandpa Randy’s Visit
September 12th, 2007
We were lucky to have Marc’s dad in town for 4 days. Maren was so excited to have Grandpa escort her to school! We all headed to Catalina Island early Saturday and had a full day of biking, site seeing, slipper hunting etc. All of Marc’s siblings were there except for Michael. We missed you Mike. Marc is hoping to convince the last 3 Hemeon’s living back east to move out here and join the rest!

Hemeon helps LCC get revenge

This article appeared on kbcsports.com - I am not sure how long it will be up - so I share it with you here. Aaron played a great game.ay 12, 2007 - he was chosen as the player of the game.
La Costa Canyon midfielder Aaron Hemeon played in his first Mavericks-Falcons grudge match and made his presence felt. Hemeon scored two goals, had an assist, and owned the face-off cirlce as La Costa Canyon defeated Torrey Pines 7-5 in boys lacrosse in a game broadcast live on KBCsports.com at Torrey Pines High School.

C.J. Small also had two goals and an assist, Nick Nyeholt added three assists and Jake Heraled made some sparkling saves in goal as the two-time defending CIF San Diego Champions avenged an earlier 6-5 loss to Torrey Pines on April 20th. With the win, La Costa Canyon and Torrey Pines share the North County Conference Championship.
The Mavericks jumped out quickly by taking a 4-2 lead after the first quarter, including two goals eight seconds apart. Josh Lucero scored at the 5:34 mark in the first quarter to put LCC 2-1. Hemeon won the ensuing face-off and then sprinted into the box and dished to Small for another goal with 5:26 left in the first quarter.
Neither team scored in the second quarter as the Mavericks took a 4-2 lead into halftime.
Hemeon started the scoring in the third quarter with an unassisted goal at the 9:41 mark, and then capped off the LCC scoring with a goal 1:04 into the fourth quarter.
Hemeon said he transferred from Virginia in this, the middle of his junior year, when his mother moved to Oceanside. He then had to get an inter-district transfer waiver to attend La Costa Canyon and waited nearly four months for the paperwork to clear. It finally cleared just before the first meeting of the season between the Falcons and Mavericks… or so Hemeon thought. He did not play in that game, but has played in the last five - all Maverick victories.
La Costa Canyon (12-7) made a case for the top seed in the playoffs which begin Saturday, May 19th. LCC split its two games with Torrey Pines (17-4) and only had one loss against teams from the San Diego section. The Falcons lost two games against San Diego foes (LCC, The Bishop’s School). Coronado, ranked second in the section, lost to Torrey Pines for its only loss against a San Diego opponent.
Chase Horning scored three goals and had an assist for the Falcons. He is one of 17 Falcon seniors to play his final home regular season game. - Troy Hirsch

SoCAL BOYS: La Costa Canyon Downs No. 13 Torrey Pines, 7-5 Junior middie Aaron Hemeon scored two goals and added two assists to lead La Costa Canyon to a 7-5 victory over No. 13 Torrey Pines in a CIF-San Diego Section North County Conference game Saturday night.
Junior attackman C.J. Small added three points on two goals and an assist, senior attackman Nick Nyeholt dished three assists and sophomore goalie Jake Herald saved 14 shots to help lead the Mavericks (13-7) to their seventh straight win. Junior attackman Matthew D’Angelo scored two goals, and senior middie Josh Lucero scored once for La Costa Canyon.
The Mavericks led 4-2 at halftime, 6-3 at the end of the third quarter and by as many as 7-3 early in the fourth quarter before Torrey Pines scored the game’s final two goals.
“Defensively, we’ve gotten a lot better and it’s providing a lot more opportunities for our offense,” La Costa Canyon Coach Dallas Hartley said. “They needed game experience. It’s taken two months for them to get better, but game experience is starting to pay off.”
In a losing effort, Chase Horning had a co-game-high four points on three goals and one assist for Torrey Pines, which fell to 17-4.
“They just outplayed us,” Torrey Pines Coach John Principi said. “We, again, had trouble scoring, and they executed very well and played a very good game. They played an excellent game.”
